Make Homecare Part of the Journey

One of the easiest ways to make retail feel awkward is to wait until the very end of the appointment to bring it up.

You've spent the last hour talking about her skin, treating her concerns, and creating a plan—and then suddenly you're standing at checkout talking about products.

Instead, let homecare be part of the conversation from the beginning.

Start With Her Routine

During your consultation, ask what she's currently using, what she likes, what she doesn't like, and what she's hoping to improve.

You may quickly find opportunities to connect her home routine to the work you're doing in the treatment room.

If you're working on pigmentation, talk about what she's doing at home to protect and support those results.

If you're working on a compromised barrier, talk about how her current routine may be helping—or getting in the way.

The treatment room gives you the context. Her homecare gives you the consistency.

Don't Wait Until Checkout

As you're using products during the service, explain what you're doing and why.

"I'm using this today because we're focusing on your pigmentation."

Later, that same conversation can naturally become:

"This is also the product I'd recommend continuing at home."

Now the recommendation doesn't feel like it came out of nowhere.

She's already seen it, experienced it, and understands why it fits her plan.

Simplify, Don't Just Add

Your client may already have a bathroom full of products she's purchased from TikTok, Instagram, friends, or wherever else skincare advice finds her.

She doesn't necessarily need more products.

She may need a better plan.

Sometimes the best homecare recommendation is adding something new. Sometimes it's simplifying what she's already doing.

Either way, your job isn't to fill her shelf.

It's to help her create a routine that supports the results you're working toward together.

Pause after each patient. Find your pattern. Grow your retail.
